How to make an African hat

   Materials: Sturdy colored paper Scissors Paper glue Small plate Ruler pen optional if you want to decorate as shown in the picture - large and medium sized colored circle stickers

   Trace the outline of the small plate 2 times on the colored paper Cut out the circles

   Cut strips 9.5 cm wide and glue enough of them together to make a strip long enough to go around and overlap the plate.

   Make marks 7 cm from the bottom along the strip

   Connect the marks with a straight line

   Make a sharp neat crease along the line you drew. Unfold

   Flip the strip over to the back side. Cut slits up to the crease about 1 cm apart. *The uncut area will be the sides of your hat. You can decorate now or Wait until step 11 to decorate as shown in the intro picture.

   Put glue on the slit edge. Place one of the cut circles on top and bring the strip around the circle. The uncut area should stand up. Glue the over lapping edge.

    Flip the circle over and glue down any pieces sticking up. Take the second circle and cover it with glue. Place the glued side on top of the slits and align the sides the best you can

    Glue together a strip 2.5 cm with long enough to go around the hat. Place the circle side of the hat on the table and glue the strip around it.

    Put a small circle in the middle on a larger circle. Stick them to the hat as shown in picture. Your African hat is ready! Hag Sameh!
